Currently priced at £33,060, the EX30 is set to receive a new entry-level powertrain that could significantly reduce its starting cost. This unnamed setup features a rear-mounted motor with 148bhp, a notable downgrade from the 268bhp Single Motor model. Despite the reduced power, it still offers an impressive range of 211 miles with the 51kWh battery, and an even more impressive 296 miles with the 69kWh Long Range option.
The question on everyone's mind: will this new model make its way to UK showrooms? Volvo hasn't confirmed yet, but if given the go-ahead, we can expect the EX30's price to drop closer to the £30,000 mark, making it a more competitive option against rivals like the Alfa Romeo Junior and Mini Aceman.
Chief Commercial Officer Erik Severinson believes this new powertrain will expand Volvo's market reach and attract more customers to full electrification. And that's not all - all EX30 models will receive an over-the-air software update this summer, adding vehicle-to-load functionality, allowing the battery to power external devices. An adapter for this feature will be available for purchase separately.
Additionally, the infotainment touchscreen will get an interface update, with key controls placed closer to the driver's reach. A customizable toolbar will also be added, allowing drivers to predict and access frequently used functions or personalize their controls.
This is especially significant for the EX30, as it relies heavily on touchscreen control, almost completely doing away with traditional switchgear.
